Queen Elizabeth Is Trendier Than We Thought

The  Daily Telegraph’s Hilary Alexander recently brought attention to our highness, Queen Elizabeth II, and her... trendy fashion piece? The make-you-quiver 'Queen of England' rocked a dainty military jacket accompanied by a precious broach and an ever-so-classic pearl necklace. The illustrious leader of Britain’s royal family made a public appearance in a feminine military jacket (left image) similar to the prodigal Balmain jacket (right image), made uber-popular in 2009, worn by entertainment trendsetters like Michael Jackson, Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Beyonce, and Madonna.

With the Telegraph’s statement bringing an interesting point, Styleite’s Julia Rubin was inspired by this amusing take on the queen bee’s fashion. Julia proudly introduces QE2 Style Guide (seen below) simply saying, “You’re welcome.” But what will she wear to the wedding?! Decisions, decisions, huh, mum?

Huge Florals: During Fashion Week, Jil Sander was all about big, bright florals. Coincidentally, so is the Queen.
Bow Prints: Queen Elizabeth doesn't just have the runway locked down, her looks have downmarket influences also. For example, check out how much this See by Chloé bow print matches her own bow print dress.
Yellow Ruffles: Zac Posen's runway show for his Z Spoke line heralded a yellow ruffle trend for spring. Looks like Elizabeth is ahead of the game.
3D Glasses: We all know 3D is the future, and the Queen is ready to embrace it. Perhaps next time she'll don Gucci's $225 3D specs?
Bright Abstracts: Rag & Bone showed lots of brightly colored abstract prints in September, and while the Queen's print isn't quite as abstracted, it definitely fits the aesthetic.
Clear Umbrellas: What's a royal to do when it rains? Carry a trendy clear umbrella, of course! Just like Jessica Stam did at them Victoria's Secret fashion show.
HATS! We have no comparison to show you here, because QE2's hats are inimitable. And amazing. And just OMG look at these hats.
